A father’s imaginative folktale is the Inspiration and origin of the Soovins. As a child, show creator Benji Woerly was regaled by his father with tall tales of short, cheerful creatures from faraway lands, stories that forged a bond between father and son that endured from childhood into adulthood and inspired Benji to carry their spirit of adventure and wonder into every aspect of his life. Benji’s travels throughout the music industry, working with artists such as John Legend, the Jonas Brothers, and the Strokes, would later help shape the Soovins’ themes of music, friendship, and exploration. Yet the greatest influence on the project remained his father, whose dream of sharing their family story with the world ultimately inspired Benji to dedicate himself full time to its development. Although his father passed away suddenly in 2021 before witnessing the show's full realization and global audience adoption, his legacy lives on through Benji and the continuing adventures of the fearless Soovins.
